Youth Minister Person Specification
The person we are looking to appoint as our next Youth Minister will be:
- A Christian who has a personal, vibrant relationship with God;
- Passionate about seeing young people find God;
- Committed to supporting young people in their spiritual journey
- Experienced in working with young people/ children in a church or similar community setting;
- Able to establish and develop relationships with young people, adult church family members and the community in general;
- Willing to uphold, and seek to model, Sutton Christian Centres’ values and Christian ethos;
- Eager to increase community cohesion and shared citizenship among young people;
- Able to gain the trust and respect of Church leaders, Police, Council and voluntary sector organisations;
- Able to develop links with local churches and youth workers;
- In possession of good leadership, communication and team working skills;
- Able to compose and deliver effective presentations, talks and sermons.
This person will have:
- A practical knowledge and understanding of youth culture and how it informs the behaviour of young people;
- A passion and enthusiasm to make a difference;
- The ability to work with and inspire volunteers;
- The ability to work well within a team;
- The ability to self motivate, work efficiently and flexibly and prioritise demands;
- Good organisational skills and the ability to balance priorities and make sound decisions;
- A willingness to be accountable to the Pastor, Leaders and appointed Line Manager;
- A willingness to undertake relevant training;
- A flexible “can do” approach;
- A sense of humour!
- An enhanced CRB clearance, which will need to be done before the contract can be confirmed.
