General Election – Voting at SCC
Sutton Christian Centre opened its doors early on Thursday 8th June to allow local residents to vote in the General Election. Polling booths had been delivered the day before, with the ballot boxes, voting papers….and those important pencils…arriving on Thursday morning.
Prior to Thursday morning we had given the building a tiny makeover, re-painting our rather weather-beaten cross and ensuring that our noticeboard displays were up to date.
It was great to see a steady trickle of our neighbours arriving throughout the day, and by the time the polls closed at 10.00pm, around 2,500 people had passed through our doors!
Now, having been a Polling Station once, we’re very keen to do so again, perhaps adding a coffee shop/get together area too.
